Lorenza Lombana, Bilingual Tutor, Explores Ways that Individuals and Companies can get started on Social Justice.

Lombana adds that educating oneself and others about social injustice is essential. This includes learning about the history and current reality of discrimination and oppression faced by marginalized groups, as well as sharing this information with others. Another of her points is working to create more inclusive environments. This could involve serving on a diversity committee at work or school, mentoring someone from a different background than your own, or simply being an ally to marginalized groups in your everyday life. 

Finally, she recommends voting for politicians who support social justice initiatives and policies. This includes voting for candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to equality and equity and supporting ballot measures that advance civil rights or provide needed resources to disadvantaged communities. “Individuals have the power to make a difference in the fight for social justice. Lorenza Lombana is a dual language and bilingual teacher who has taught elementary school for the last three years. She is a liberal arts graduate from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Lombana credits her success as a teacher to her love for the job and the interpersonal experience she gained working at different companies before becoming a teacher. In addition to teaching, Lombana is also a philanthropist who has donated time and resources towards causes like volunteering her services at the anti-trafficking alliance.
